Kering is stuck in a downward spiral. The Qatari investment firm Mayhoola could take advantage of the situation by buying shares in the group from the controlling Pinault family. That would be in addition to the shares it will get thanks to the already agreed sale to Kering of Valentino, industry sources say.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control," on Friday evening the French group canceled a dinner in Paris with more than 30 analysts that was due to take place on Monday June 16, prompting speculation it’s likely to make an important announcement this week.
