Dinner Invitation - Monday July 21st
What is going on in America, one of the most important luxury markets in the world?
U.S. President Donald Trump has divided the country. Anti-Trump demonstrations have become frequent. The U.S. economy is gradually slowing down. The so-called “feel-good factor,” on which luxury spending depends, is under pressure. It’s difficult to predict what will happen in terms of economic growth and mood in the next six months.
To understand how the world’s biggest economy has reached this precipice, Miss Tweed would like to invite you to a conference dinner with the U.S. expert and researcher Amy Greene on Monday, July 21st in Paris. Author of the book L’Amérique face à ses fractures (Tallandier, 2024), Amy Greene argues that Trump is not a new phenomenon. The U.S. president plays on the angers, fears and frustrations that have been brewing in America for many years.
Faced with its old demons -- racism, endemic violence, conspiracy theories and doubts about reality -- the American model is running out of steam. Democracy itself is in danger.
How can we explain the pessimism and extreme tensions that characterize American civic and social life today? Why is populism on the rise while the common national project is deteriorating? How have neighbors and adversaries become bitter enemies?
If you would like to join us and listen to Amy Greene, please write an email to contact@misstweed.com, we will send you details regarding price and location.
