Chanel has acquired Karl Lagerfeld’s Parisian bookstore 7L to safeguard his legacy and spirit, the French luxury powerhouse told Miss Tweed. The late German couturier who masterminded Chanel’s renaissance from 1983 and designed for Fendi as well from 1965 until his last breath, was the most prolific designer of his generation and an exceptional free spirit. He is dearly missed by all those who loved his work and personality. The Kaiser spoke several languages and cultivated a passion for philosophy, art and literature. Famous for his repartee, he described his love of books as “a disease for which there exists no remedy.”
