Farfetch, l’ancienne star du luxe en ligne, affronte un nouveau péril. Des détenteurs d'obligations, dont le fonds activiste américain Fir Tree Partners, essayent de bloquer son rachat par le groupe sud-coréen Coupang, annoncé en décembre. Ils exigent que la société rembourse immédiatement les 400 millions de dollars qu’ils lui ont prêtés.
Ces investisseurs sont soutenus par le groupe de luxe suisse Richemont et le géant du commerce électronique chinois Alibaba - eux aussi créanciers de Farfetch. Leur objectif est d’empêcher l’effacement des dettes de la société, prévu dans son accord avec Coupang, et de l’obliger à vendre autant d'actifs que possible pour les rembourser.
