In the history of fashion, Fosun International will be remembered as the Chinese group that damaged Lanvin so much, it is difficult to see how France’s oldest brand will ever revive and become relevant again, even if it finds a new sponsor with deep pockets, industry sources say. Lanvin is not the only brand looking for new owners. All Fosun’s fashion houses are unofficially on the market, banking sources say, and no one is hurrying to make an offer. These include Wolford, the Austrian maker of high-end stockings, America’s St. John Knits as well as Italian shoemaker Sergio Rossi and tailor Caruso. Fosun has already started selling some of these brands’ assets, such as buildings and factories to raise cash, Miss Tweed has found out.
