Fondé en 1875, c’est le dernier grand horloger historique de cette taille détenu par ses familles fondatrices. Mais cela pourrait ne pas durer. Certains actionnaires songeraient à vendre leur participation, ce qui crée des tensions entre eux, a appris Miss Tweed. Et dans quelques années, ce fleuron de l’industrie horlogère suisse pourrait éventuellement tomber sous le contrôle de LVMH, selon des sources ayant une connaissance directe du dossier.
En termes d’image de marque, de chiffre d’affaires et de rentabilité, AP a atteint un sommet. L’horloger affiche les primes les plus élevées sur le marché de l’occasion, avec Rolex, Patek Philippe et Richard Mille. Sa direction étant sur le point de changer, certains actionnaires estiment que le moment est idéal pour vendre leur participation. Le directeur général de longue date, François-Henry Bennahmias, doit en effet partir l'an prochain et son remplaçant n'a pas encore été trouvé, selon des sources du secteur.
