As Versace prepares to embark on a new creative chapter under the direction of the talented Pieter Mulier, the man behind Alaïa’s revival, the Maillol Museum in Paris is presenting an exhibition that traces the career and history of the fashion house’s founder, Gianni Versace.
This is the first major French retrospective dedicated to the designer since 1986 and is being held without the support of the Versace fashion house. The Gianni Versace Retrospective is instead being funded by private patrons and ticket sales. The fashion house chose to remain uninvolved in this project, which focuses solely on the founder and does not feature anything created after his death in 1997 at the age of 50.
