Cédric Charbit, new Saint Laurent CEO, and Gianfranco Gianangeli, new CEO of Balenciaga

Kering is finally clarifying part of its corporate governance by appointing new bosses for two important brands: Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. The move will provide some relief for Francesca Bellettini who has been continuing to run Saint Laurent for a year-and-a-half on top of overseeing all Kering’s fashion brands since becoming deputy CEO last year. Bellettini chose Cédric Charbit as Saint Laurent’s new boss, a man she trusts and with whom she has good relations. It was high time for Bellettini to get more breathing space to focus on Gucci and Kering’s other fashion brands, including Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta and Brioni. Bellettini needs to help Bottega Veneta find a new creative director to replace Matthieu Blazy. His departure should be announced in mid-December.
