Bernard Arnault’s five children are locked in an increasingly poisonous conflict for control of LVMH. So disruptive is their fratricidal battle consensus is growing among investors and the higher echelons of LVMH that the role of the next boss of the world No. 1 luxury group and Europe’s second-biggest company by market cap cannot be assumed by one of Bernard Arnault’s children.

The sooner Arnault comes to terms with that and makes it official, the faster the conflict will end. A strong outsider will be needed to mediate and run the group, people with direct knowledge of events told Miss Tweed.

If you’re in Paris, there are still a few days left to see “Paul Poiret, Fashion is a Celebration” at the Museum of Decorative Arts (until January 11). The exhibition presents the work of the French couturier, who was also an artist, collector and epicurean, a daring and extravagant man who ended his life in poverty.

Poiret followed in the footsteps of Charles Frederick Worth, the father of haute couture, to whom the Petit Palais dedicated an exhibition last summer. Through a dazzling collection of dresses, coats and ensembles, as well as illustrations, posters and photos, the Poiret exhibition offers a journey through the Belle Époque and the Roaring Twenties.

A sudden exit of TAG Heuer’s boss is turning the focus on the management and culture of the entire division and the group itself. It seems things are far from running like clockwork. Questions about governance go to the top, right to Frédéric Arnault, Bernard Arnault’s second son from his second marriage, who is seen as one of his potential successors.
